Are you a skilled and experienced lab technician looking to take the next step in your career? Gundersen Health Systemis seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist to be a Technical Lab Leader within our Urines/Body Fluids and Fertility Lab.

What You'll Do:

You will utilize your knowledge and experience to oversee and lead day-to-day operations of our Urines/Body Fluids and Fertility Laboratory, including sample collection, testing, analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting while ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols, quality control standards, and regulatory requirements. You will provide guidance and support to the lab technicians to maintain high-quality standards as well as skills rosters and competency testing of staff. You will be responsible for maintaining all regulatory compliance within the area of responsibility including quality control and assurance documentation, reporting, review and implementation of SOPs, and implementation of corrective actions as necessary. Other duties as assigned.

What's Available:

  • Fulltime - 72 hours biweekly (0.9 FTE)

  • Monday through Friday day shift, start times between 5a to 9a

  • Occasional weekend and holiday if needed for staffing

  • Starting pay of $28.20 and up, based on experience

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Technology or higher is required

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, ideally with a focus on urinalysis and fertility assessments

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and methodologies used in urinalysis and fertility testing

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Familiarity with quality control standards, regulatory guidelines, and safety protocols.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with providers, fertility specialists, team members and other healthcare professionals to understand their testing needs, provide consultation, and deliver timely and accurate reports

Job Description:

The Technical Leader coordinates and leads the activities of the assigned section, including processing and analyzing blood/body fluids for a wide variety of constituents as requested by the physician. The Technical Lead works with the other section leaders to ensure the laboratory operations function efficiently. The Technical lead supports management decisions and communicates noncompliance to management. Delegates work to staff within the section to ensure efficient delivery of quality test results. Demonstrates competency with the full scope of laboratory procedures, chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, molecular and transfusion medicine. They are responsible for coordinating the training/competency of all employees in the section. The Technical Leads are responsible for ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met. Delegates and provides clinical laboratory expertise for Medical Laboratory Scientists and support staff within the laboratory and provides technical expertise in a manner that promotes collaboration with internal and external customers.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for providing skill rosters for new employees and competency testing for all staff working within the section. Provides direction for specified testing activities in the section. Assigns work, checks results, and oversees troubleshooting of technical issues.

2. In the spirit of teamwork, prioritizes workload demands and works with other Technical Leaders, staff, and managers to ensure that the laboratory team delivers high quality laboratory tests in an accurate and timely manner.

3. Supports organization and management decisions related to all corporate and laboratory policies and procedures. Acts as a liaison between employees and the manager.

4. Responsible for Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and variance reporting for the section. Ensures compliance with all accrediting agencies.

5. Utilizes laboratory information systems.

6. Responsible for introduction of new instrumentation and actively participates in section projects.

7. Provides input for resource allotment for the section including supplies, space, and staffing.

8. Ensures procedure manuals are current, accurate, and meet the standards of accrediting agencies.

9. Performs highly complex laboratory tests, as defined by CLIA.

10. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Bachelor's in Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science

DESIRED

Master's degree in Medical Technology,Clinical Laboratory Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

4 years training/experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty

DESIRED

2 years training/experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty if candidate has desired master's degree.
